In-kind meeting
report (Word Document)
In-kind activity
report (Word Document)
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) added
the Omaha Lead Site to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) in 2003 in
response to requests from concerned citizens and the City of Omaha about the
presence of children with blood lead levels > =10 µg/dL. The Omaha Lead Site
contains approximately 14 square miles of residential property in east Omaha.
The Community Advisory Group was formed to address a need for increased
community participation and technical input in the Superfund process. The CAG
is an assembly of community members and technical representatives commissioned
to facilitate meaningful participation in the technical aspects of the
Superfund process, providing a forum for discussing how site decisions can and
will be made. Through the CAG, the community has the opportunity to participate
in decisions made at the Omaha Lead Site.
Our Mission Statement
To provide a forum to discuss and resolve technical issues and
community concerns relating to the Omaha Lead Site.
CAG Objectives
-
Provide a communication link between community groups, the EPA, the State of
Nebraska, Douglas County, and the City of Omaha
-
Promote cooperation and interaction among community representatives and
technical professionals to produce representative data and studies
-
Help define EPA studies and set study priorities
-
Review technical data and make recommendations regarding its use
-
Help design and monitor the public participation (education/outreach) program
-
Develop recommendations for the EPA to consider concerning the risk management
process
-
Provide real and sensible input to EPA on the appropriateness of remedial
actions being considered for Omaha neighborhoods.
Copies of the documents posted on the Agenda, Minutes, and Handouts pages of
this website are available at four Omaha Public Libraries within the Omaha Lead
